2009: Be a YP Rockstar

Young Professional Rockstar

January is a special month. It’s a time for new beginnings – the perfect time to start a new project, take up a new hobby, or even reinvent yourself. Some people make resolutions. Resolutions have their place, but few last beyond January. What can you do that will last all year, maybe even the rest of your life? How can you make lasting change?

The YP Rockstar Series

The YP Rockstar, a brand new series on Girl Meets Business, is designed to help you:

  • Build a positive professional image
  • Communicate like a true professional
  • Create a personal style
  • Get your finances together
  • Promote yourself effectively

I am so excited to launch The YP Rockstar series to help you get started with a successful 2009. Let’s face it; things aren’t looking so hot right now. Everywhere you turn you hear about the economic crisis, the housing crisis, the employment crisis. It can seem overwhelming and downright terrifying. But, Rockstars will survive.

What to expect from the The YP Rockstar series on Girl Meets Business:

  • Several jam-packed posts a week
  • Book reviews
  • Links to online resources
  • Challenges to help spur you to action

How you can get involved (and win an amazing prize!):

commentrockstar

Comment! Your comments add value, and during the month of January your comments could earn you a one-year membership into an empowering, potentially life-changing experience called the WE 4 LIFE Coaching program! (a $588 value!).

This coaching experience is designed by Jenny Ferry, my life coach! You will be amazed with Jenny’s insight and experience – and her ability to unlock your potential. She has teamed up with other experts to bring you the WE 4 LIFE monthly coaching experience through monthly teleseminars and her members-only social networking site.

Every comment you make throughout The YP Rockstar series gets you one chance to be entered into the contest. The more you comment, the more chances you have to win! But, there are a couple catches:

  1. You must leave a valid email address when filling out the form to leave your comment. (Otherwise, I won’t be able to contact you! And, don’t worry, I won’t be spamming you. Promise.)
  2. Your comments should add value. What do I mean by that? Check out these comment-writing guides: (1) Five comments no serious blogger should ever post (even though this post is geared toward bloggers, the general points are applicable to anyone) by one of my favorite bloggers Tiffany Monhollon of Personal PR and (2) Good Comment

Of course, this is all about fun and learning, so I don’t plan on being a big stickler on the “add value” requirement! Please say what’s on your mind!

More information on the prize:

Exclusively geared for women in their 20s and 30s, the WE 4 LIFE Coaching Program is once a month online experience that will cover ready-to-use, powerful strategies you can use right away to:

  • Generate ideas and new perspectives to break-through old patterns and get real results
  • Achieve work/life balance to stop un-wanted stress and free up time
  • Stay motivated and learn new tricks to getting more things – the right things – done quickly!
  • Follow a proven method for tapping success and greater fulfillment in every area of your life
  • Take advantage of dedicated call-in coaching times to address specific concerns through an open coaching forum. This is personal coaching time – just for YOU.
  • Build friendships and network with like-minded twenty-somethings on the path to success.
  • Redesign your life so it fits YOU, your values and the lifestyle you desire.

The fine print:

The winner will be randomly drawn at the end The YP Rockstar series and will be announced no later than February 8, 2009. The winner will receive a one-year membership to the WE 4 LIFE Coaching Program provided by Crest for Your Life, beginning in February 2009 and ending in February 2010. Girl Meets Business reserves the right to delete or deny any comments into the contest for any reason. Girl Meets Business will not be held liable for any aspect of this contest.

  1. I’m very eager to see the YP Rockstar series get started & take off– it’s exactly the sorts of information I’ve subscribed to Girl Meets Business for, and I know I forward many posts along to my girl friends in business.

The developing a personal style and getting your finances together topics especially appeal to me. I’m very interested in reading more of your thoughts on personal style in the professional world (especially given a recent protocol & etiquette workshop I was unfortunate enough to attend!).

  2. @Ashe Mischief I’m excited as well. I hope you’ll participate throughout the month! Honestly, I think we all have a lot to learn - and that definitely includes me!! Stay tuned - personal style and finances are a couple weeks away, but I think they’ll be some good stuff in between. Best wishes for a great start to 2009!

  3. Angela,
Thanks for the link! Looking forward to the series. I think now is a great time to focus on professionalism . And what a cool prize!

I’d also love to see you cover managing the relationship with superiors, because I think that’s something that causes a lot of trepidation and missteps from young professionals.
